allied genus. It is a burrowing animal, with short, thick

meles} or Meles vulgaris), called also brock, inhabits
the north of Europe and Asia; another species ({Taxidea
taxus} or Taxidea Americana or Taxidea Labradorica)
inhabits the northern parts of North America. See
Teledu.
