black snakeroot is Sanicula, esp. {Sanicula
Marilandica}, also Cimicifuga racemosa; Seneca
snakeroot is Polygala Senega; button snakeroot is
Liatris, also Eryngium; white snakeroot is
Eupatorium ageratoides. The name is also applied to
some others besides these.
