Anhinga or Plotus. They are allied to the gannets and
cormorants, but have very long, slender, flexible necks,
and sharp bills.

anhinga}) inhabits the Southern United States and
tropical America; -- called also darter, and {water
turkey}. The Asiatic species (Anhinga melanogaster)

respectively.
